What is the difference between a trailer registration plate and a trailer number plate?
A trailer registration plate typically means the newly introduced identifying plate which is required for trailers, caravans, horseboxes and other towed trailers being taken from the UK to Europe. It is white and features a one letter, seven digit identifier assigned by the DVLA upon registering online. A trailer number plate typically means the yellow rear number plate which displays the same registration mark as the vehicle doing the towing.
Mounting Guidance
When mounting your trailer registration plate, it should be mounted as far as practicable from the number plate position. If there is no space on the rear to mount it, you should mount two trailer registration plates - one on either side of the trailer.
